This training module explores the main characteristics and properties of emerging bio-based raw materials for the Chemical Industry, with a special focus on cellulose, the most abundant natural polymer on Earth, used across a wide range of industrial applications.

In this free online training module, you will get a clear introduction to cellulose and its role in the chemical industry. The module is organized into 7 sections, each paired with exercises to reinforce learning: from the basics of cellulose and its history, through production and commercial applications, to its physical and chemical properties, and finally the key functionalization reactions used to modify it.
