ChemSkills Training Module - Rebound Resilience Test Training - Rubber

How much energy a rubber compound returns after an impact, versus how much it absorbs, determines whether it's suited for a bouncy tire tread or a damping mount. Rebound resilience testing captures exactly this trade-off.

In this training module, you will learn how a pendulum impact tester measures the percentage of energy a specimen recovers after impact, and how this relates to crosslink density, filler content, and internal friction. You will discover how to prepare and condition a specimen, run repeated pendulum strikes, and calculate a reliable average rebound resilience value.

You will also learn how to interpret your results in terms of elastic recovery versus damping, and how to avoid common sources of measurement error.
